Cloth Football Patches.
Cloth patches with embroidered names and logos were a fashion accessory especially in the 1970s.You could show your loyalty to a music group or football team by stitching patches to your denim jacket or scarf. Strategically placed they could cover up that hole in your jeans.
Cloth patches were made by Coffer Sports, Sportscene of Horsfoth, Leeds, and P&G Sports Souvenirs of London. Leomotif of Garforth Leeds and Kingfisher both made a self adhesive felt type badge that needed sewing on if the garment was to be washed.
Some patches have been reproduced, especially the 2 fingered "V".
Patches for other teams are after the Sunderland section.
